Advisory and Consulting

Patent Agent (Life Sciences)

 Y Innovations’s consulting and advisory arm, Yung Innovations PLLC, is looking for a patent agent (life sciences) with experience in small molecules, cell therapy, and gene therapy patent applications. The Patent Agent will work with our intellectual property attorneys to draft and prosecute patent applications. This role will collaborate with various departments in our early-stage incubator, including R&D and search and evaluation. Responsibilities (position responsibilities may include, but are not limited to):

  • Preparing patent applications for filing with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)

  • Assisting with the prosecution of patent applications, worldwide

  • Evaluating discoveries and preparing invention disclosure forms

  • Triage of content relevant to information disclosure statements

  • Performing patent searches and evaluating results

  • Providing technical assistance on various IP projects, as needed

 Qualifications:

  • At least three (3+) years of legal practice experience, preferably at a law firm.

  • PhD (or MD) in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, immunology, molecular biology, cell biology, microbiology, oncology or a related field. Post-doctoral experience is desirable but not required.

  • USPTO registration number required.

  • Superior academic credentials, excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills.


Patent Agent (AI, ME, EE)

Y Innovations’s consulting and advisory arm, Yung Innovations PLLC, is looking for a patent agent (AI, ME, EE)/Of counsel/Partner) with experience in one or more of the following: artificial intelligence (AI), enterprise and mobile applications, databases, web and cloud services, operating systems, software user interfaces, open source, 3D graphics, grid computing, networking, telecommunications, network protocols, IEEE standards, or network security patent applications. This role will collaborate with various departments in our early-stage incubator, including R&D and search and evaluation. Innovations Studios

Senior Associates (Search and Evaluation)

Y Innovations’s early stage incubator, Y Innovations Studios LLC (the “Studios”), is looking for Senior Associates for its life sciences, AI/ME/EE, and energy search and evaluation teams. These roles will work closely with management, including the CEO and CIO, as well as collaborate with various departments in the Studios, including R&D and consultants from Yung Innovations PLLC as it pertains to intellectual property matters. Senior Associates in our search and evaluation teams are important members of our organization and will provide critical support to the Studios pipeline of early stage companies.

Responsibilities: 

  • Review applications and work closely with management to identify relevant early stage companies that may be a good fit for the Studios.

  • Lead due diligence for evaluation of early stage companies including:

    • technical assessment, comparison, and ranking

    • intellectual property competitiveness

    • market review

    • industry analyses

  • Manage recruitment and selection of portfolio startups.

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of industry experience in competitive incubator or venture firm, biotechnology company, software company, energy company, engineering company.

  • Educational background requirements will be dependent on team. For the life sciences search and evaluation team, an advanced graduate degree (MD or PhD) is required.
